Lobelia (16 oz)

A 1-3 foot tall annual plant, Lobelia boasts a milky sap and is much branched with an erect, angular, and hairy stem. The leaves, arranged alternately, are hairy with distinct veins, lanceolate, and bluntly serrate. The pale violet tubular flowers feature a 2-lipped corolla with 2 erect upper lobes and 3 spreading lower lobes, arranged rather far apart in loose spike-like racemes. As the flowers mature, an inflated ovoid pod is formed, containing numerous small brown seeds. Commonly found throughout the eastern and central U.S. in fields and waste areas.
