Medical Prep 101 + 201 is a TWO DAY CLASS.

Medical Prep Day One:

Course Description: In this jam-packed first day, we will dive into diseases and injuries most likely to strike in a long-term disaster scenario and in everyday life, too!  Our students comment that this class is like drinking from a medical fire hose of knowledge.  Come well rested and ready to rocket into a dynamic training and learning environment!

A sampling of topics include:

  • Vital signs - How to take them?  What do they mean?  What might they indicate?
  • Diseases that kill - Which diseases kill fastest?  Which are most common in a grid-down?
  • Antibiotics - What are they used for?  What are common dosages?  How are they selected?
  • Wounds-  When is suturing appropriate?  Are there risks involved with closing a wound?  What material is appropriate?

In addition to strengthening our knowledge base, we will also take regular breaks for application.  Skills sessions will include physical assessment, taking blood pressure, post-mortem care, drug calculation, austere rehydration (when you don’t have IV fluids), and much more!  The student will leave this class equipped with the knowledge and skills to better safeguard their loved ones’ health whatever life may throw at them!

Medical Prep Day Two:

Course Description:  For retention, we will have a brief recap of day one, and then jump headlong into deeper physical assessment, refining our skills and furthering our knowledge.  Total body physical assessment and problem solving will inform our medical preparedness approach.  You will know how to check a person out from head to toe, conduct a physical assessment, and interpret certain findings.

We will delve into a critical and HIGHLY under-addressed area of preparedness – psychological challenges.   We will investigate how a major disaster will affect people’s minds and hearts, causing significant depression, anxiety, and fear.  Learning how to assess, prevent and take care of these problems is INTEGRAL to a well-rounded medical survival plan.  Additionally, we will discuss options for pain control when the medicine runs out, and how to care for people who are suffering from physical and emotional pain.

Women’s health, STD’s, and BIRTH will also be covered in this class, including assisting in a birth and preparing for possible complications such miscarriage, excessive bleeding, babies that don’t breathe, and breech birth.

Blending components of 101 and 201, we'll cover the issues and challenges of water shortages, human waste management, and the proper disposal of human bodies.

PLEASE NOTE:   Training is only open to legal, US Citizens or permanent residents (green card holders) per ITAR  (22 CFR §§120-130).  We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone we deem belligerent, rude, noncooperative, troublesome, potentially or demonstrably disruptive to our class environment, and/or whose behavior poses any threat to our staff or students' safety and well-being. No recording of any kind is permitted, and attempts to violate this policy constitute ground for immediate dismissal without refund.

Cancellation Policy:   Cancellations prior to 30 days before class will be refunded with a 20% fee per person per class. Cancellations less than 30 days before class will not be refunded.  No exceptions.  We will not grant refunds or transfers to students who fail to show to class for any reason.  Registration is nontransferable between persons. You agree to abide by this policy when you register for class.

We reserve the right to cancel a class with reasonable notice given. We also reserve the right to cancel with no notice due to an emergency on our part, or an Act of God.
